Is HK really “not democratic” or “not democratic enough”?

My heart goes out to the people of HK – I read of increasing violence Everyday in the once vibrant tourist destination. Now, tourist arrivals have dropped drastically. Businesses are retrenching workers. Is this really what the people really want?

If HK is not democratic, how could activists be allowed to be so vocal? If HK is not democratic, how is it that the government allowed market forces to bring property prices to be where it is right now? Or perhaps being democratic simply means different things to different people. I was just wondering ….if my son was serving in the HK Police force, what should I advice him to do when he is facing such violent protestors?

But the fact is – at this rate, they could even bring down the world economy by triggering a recession. Pray for Hong Kong!
