Birth rates in Japan plunged to an all time Low at 1.42, although they are still better than South Korea which is tracking at 0.98. It’s not looking good across the whole of Asia – with China, Japan, Singapore & South Korea all tracking below 2 – the “population replacement” mark. Obviously a cause for concern in the long run. No incentive is going to change this unless there is a mindset shift towards loving children and appreciating family life.
