Continuing with my 1-minute video series of various places in Israel, here’s a 1-minute video of the view from Mount Carmel in Northern Israel.
According to 1 Kings 18, Elijah challenged the prophets of Baal to call fire from heaven to consume their sacrifices. The Baal prophets danced, cried, cut themselves (as is the typical practice of Baal worship), etc. Nothing happened.
Elijah increased the difficulty of doing the same when he called upon God. He poured 4 pots of water on the wood & the sacrifice. He called upon His God & He responded by fire to consume the sacrifices. You can read this account in 1 Kings 18 of the Bible.
In 1 Kings 18:43, Elijah “…said to his servant, “Go up now, look towards the sea.”” From the location where I stood on Mount Carmel, the Mediterranean Sea was indeed visible, especially on a clear day. This certainly looks like the place where the incidents recorded in 1 Kings 18 took place.
Check out this 1-minute video of what it looks like from the top of Mount Carmel. I recommend that you visit this place when you go to Israel. Hope you will like the video and share it. Thanks.
