Continuing with my 1-minute video series of various places in Israel, here’s a 1-minute video of Kalia Public Beach where you can dip and float in the Dead Sea.

The Dead Sea is simply amazing. It is full of minerals and so dense that you cannot sink. All you need to do is to have faith, lie back and you will float without even needing to tread in the water at all. Believe me, it is quite an experience! (Check out this 1-minute video)

Kalia Public Beach is located at the North Western corner of the Dead Sea. (Please see the map on the left.)
It is in the West Bank area, East of Jerusalem. Although it is a public beach, it is quite well managed.
There are bathing facilities for use after dipping in the Dead Sea. There are also shops and restaurants catering to tourists and locals.

Just remember that you should not stay too long in the water. Shower thoroughly so that the “oily” feeling on your skin (due to the minerals in the water) will be washed off.
Interestingly, there are many skin-care products made from sediments & minerals from the Dead Sea. You can find them in the retail stores all over Israel. Many people even apply the mud from the Dead Sea onto their faces for better complexion. I tried that, but did not find any improvement at all 🙂 )
