Virtual crowd noise to replace real fans cheering…

When Football is played in Denmark, fans to sign on via zoom to watch the match virtually can cheer for their team from home. Their cheers are piped in and projected in the empty stadium. In Germany, the empty stadiums are filled with pre-recorded cheers. When the Spanish Football (La Liga league) starts, virtual crowd noise produced by EA Sports will be projected in the stadium. This crowd noise is similar to the simulated cheers that is used in EA Sports’ Xbox and PlayStation’s Football games. Will it ever be the same?

Without fans in stadiums, the business model for Football leagues will change dramatically. Clubs may have to charge subscription to views via zoom. Others re-negotiate TV broadcast deals. Whatever it is, this is yet another effect Covid-19 has brought upon the world as every business is impacted in one way or another.
