It’s 12 Jan 2021. Worldwide COVID-19 infections crossed the 90 million mark. Many nations are experiencing second and third wave of infections from new variants of the virus. The infection curve is still trending upwards. We have seen that lockdowns do work. We have learnt that masks are necessary. Nations are also rolling out vaccinations. Yet, there’s resistance to these measures.
If only we have global cooperation in a coordinated approach with these measures – eg. for 1 mth, everyone wears masks when going out, lockdown all countries and continue vaccinations, perhaps we can see the curve flattening out. Otherwise, 1 year later we may still be paddling at the same spot. Worst still, there may be new variants to deal with. Views?
