Is there such a thing as healthy sugar?

Well, a Singapore firm has come up with a type of sugar that gives you the taste but with a Low GI index. Apparently, this means it releases energy slowly so that blood sugar levels do not spike. Can this be a form of “healthy sugar” after all?
